I Want To Write A Mystery!

For years I’ve wanted to write a mystery… I seem to be able to come up with the right kind of plot device, and my characterizations aren’t bad. But so far, every attempt has meant a snarled plot, and not snarled in the way I want it… just lost and circular.
You know that sinking feeling when your writing starts to bore you? When you know it’s just not right or even close and you haven’t a clue how to fix it? That’s what happens to me and my mysteries. Discouraging!
I may have found an answer in James N. Frey’s How to Write a Damn Good Mystery. Time will tell, but much of what he writes about plot makes sense to me. Now, if I carve out the time, and follow his instructions… who knows, maybe it will work!
Write well and often,

I’ve written a more complete review of this book.

James Frey, huh? Any chance he’s the same James Frey of “Million Little Pieces” fame/infamy?
I don’t think it’s the same one… Million Pieces Frey is way younger, but I can’t prove that.
