If Only He Could Pass to Himself Too…

Today, Tim Tebow became the first player in NCAA history to have 20+ touchdowns rushing and 20+ touchdowns passing in a single season. It’s impressive. I’m not saying it’s not.

But his team as three losses. And really, in my opinion, their only really significant win was against Kentucky. Tebow is good, but he’s no football god.

tim-tebow.jpgYet.

He’s a sophomore. He’ll only get better (as long as he isn’t injured). Does he deserve the Heisman? I still give that a resounding NO. He’s green. His team is mediocre in the SEC. I know, I know…the SEC is a tough conference. Probably the toughest out there (at least this year). But that doesn’t mean that Tebow deserves to be named the best college football player of the year.

He does deserve an invite to New York, I’ll give him that. And it will be exciting to see him win it next year – because I think he will. Hey, maybe he’ll even win it the next TWO years. That would be awesome.

But not this year.

Unless Tebow somehow learns to pass to himself. And maybe he can learn to play defense. I mean, he’s got the passing and rushing down…if the kid can do that, give him the freaking award.

  1. LARRY BECKER says:

TEBOW IS GREAT AND SHOULD WIN THE HEISMAN. HE ALSO HAS GREAT PLAYERS LIKE HARVIN AND CALDWELL THAT CAN SCORE ON ANY TEAM. THE YOUNG DEFENCE IS THE REASON THAT THEY HAVE 3 LOSES NOT TEBOWS.WITH NUMBERS LIKE THAT YOUNG OR NOT HE DESERVES THE HEISMAN.THIS TEAM SHOULD BE PRESEASON NUMBER 1. AND HE MAY WIN MANY MORE HEISMANS AND CHAMPIONSHIPS.
