I’m Looking Forward To The Olympics

I love the Olympics. There’s something special about competing on that kind of level, with all walks of life from all over the world. The fact that the Olympics originated way back in 776 BC blows my mind. Of course we won’t count the huge time gap in between then and the first modern Olympic Games held in 1859. Nevertheless, it’s been about 250 years of world unity … at least for a brief time in the summer and winter. And that’s certainly something worth celebrating.
Then of course, there are the special moments. The ones that leave an indelible impression on us all. These moments consist of miraculous individual achievements, the beauty and true meaning of teamwork and the glorious feats of the little guy.
In honor of the forthcoming 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, here is one of my favorite and most memorable moments from the 1996 Olympics. I mean come on, who can forget the historic moment when Kerri Strug and the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team defeated Russia?
What’s your favorite Olympic memory or moment?

I’m looking forward to the Olympics too. Of all the sports, I’ll be watching the soccer games. I’m cheering for Argentina to be in the top 2. I’ll also watch the Italy matches.
