There are just files in your computer that drags and hogs your hard disk. Windows doesn’t readily give you the option to search and find the size of the content of the nested folders. Don’t lose hope, there is an application called “WinDirStat” which analyze the makeup of your hard disk and gives you the information via a size-ordered directory view.

The highlight features of this application are as follows:

WinDirStat is able to read the whole directory tree and then shows it in three useful views:

  • The directory list, is similar to the Windows Explorer but is sorted by file/subtree size,
  • The treemap, shows the entire content of the directory tree immediately
  • The extension list, serves as a legend and presents statistics about the file types.

Go ahead and download the WinDirStat.
