100-times-faster-wifi-chip.JPGIBM Research and MediaTek are researching on a wireless technology that is 100 times faster than WiFi. They aim to introduce this wonderful innovation in 3 years time. The left picture depicts a prototype millimeter wave chip that is used to drive this technology.

These chips will be able to transfer files at around 2.5 gigabits per second, compared to the 11 to 54 megabits of WiFi. They could transfer at 10 gigabyte file wirelessly in five seconds or so, something that would take several minutes on a WiFi network.

We can imagine downloading games in Gbs in seconds is totally possible. For instance, downloading Resident Evil 4 in 4 seconds will be nice.

First! This sounds great! I wonder how much it’ll cost, though.
