Indiana and North Carolina Recap

They finally called Indiana – but not by the time I turned off the TV (0100 EST). Hillary Clinton won the state, 51% to 49%, taking 37 pledged delegates, while Barack Obama took 32.  By the way, Senator McCain won the Republican Primary with 77% of the vote.

In North Carolina, Senator Obama gained his first convincing win since February (or, at least that’s what the “experts” on TV say) – in his speech Tuesday evening, he did thank North Carolina for giving him a win in a “big state”.   Obama took 56% of the vote (to Clinton’s 42%) and 58 delegates (Clinton received 42).   Senator McCain took 73% of the vote in Republican Primary.

The delegate total now (without super delegates) is -

Obama – 1,588 (with his 258 committed super delegates, he has 1,846)

Clinton – 1,419 (with her 266 committed super delegates, she has 1,685)

There are just a few primaries remaining – West Virginia holds their contest next Tuesday (May 13th), and voters in Oregon and Kentucky go to the polls on May 20th.

If I were Clinton I would have dropped out of the race Tuesday night. There is no way she can reach Obama in the delegate count. Instead of bowing out when people don’t expect her to, making headlines and quitting while she’s still in relatively good standing with Ds, she’s choosing to stay in until she’s forced out. There’s nothing gracious about that. Not to mention anyone who gives to Clinton’s campaign at this point is just money in the Clintons’ pockets (since they lent her campaign another $6 million). Can you tell I’m an Obama supporter?

I think you have a typo on Clinton’s numbers. You probably meant she has 1415 delegates w/out counting supers.

What source are you using for delegate numbers?

You are correct – thanks. The numbers have been updated per CNN.
