Inside the iStockPhoto Deal

iStockphoto is one of the Canada’s biggest Web 2.0 success stories – even if it hasn’t received a lot of attention. The Calgary-based company, which created an online stock photography service, was acquired last year by Getty Images (a major player in the stock photography business) for $50-million. Bruce Livingston, iStockphoto’s founder and CEO, talked wit ZDNet (not sure why they are touting it as an “exclusive”) about the company, its roots and strategic plans.
For the curious, iStockphoto has 150,000 images uploaded a month, 180K to 200K unique visitors a day, four million pageviews a day (1.5 to 2TB of data!) and has an image or video downloaded every three seconds.
