Woah! Another great news for iPhone and iPod owners out there. Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac will soon allow its users port Microsoft Powerpoint presentations to their iPhone or iPod which are photo or video capable units. The first shipment of the software bundle will be early January 2008 according to reports.

Blair Neumann, program manager in Microsoft’s Mac development group, said, “From there, sync pictures to your iPod or iPhone through iTunes as usual, then use the built-in photos or slide-show program on your iPod or iPhone to show your presentation.”

Accordingly, Microsoft will release Office 2008 for Mac on Jan. 15 at the Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco in several editions priced from $150 to $500.

Why stop at Power Point sync? Why not allow all office apps to run natively on iPhone just like a mac? Of course Microsoft would have to make its software touch smart.

  2. Gurpreet Singh says:

If apple can launch iphone with microsoft office capabilities it will be a boon fpor them with corporate business users will love to buy this extraordinary deviece.

    I will be the first

  3. Chinarut says:

ha - if you ask me, dump microsoft as quickly as you can, have patience and adopt all the web-based offerings and everything will work out in due time ;-)

that said, yes, there are some practicalities the masses demand so point taken - this will be interesting to watch to see how it all pans out!

  4. OffiX says:

We need to run NATIVE PowerPoint and Keynote files WITH ANIMATIONS to use the iPhone as the ultimate wired and wireless presentation remote. Editing of such native files on the iPhone and iPod touch would be also a bonus. Is that possible?

  5. Chinarut says:

mind you, it may not be the most practical solution but curious if there is any software that would render common presentation formats into video format?

now that you mention it, I notice my presentation tool of choice is iMovie - I notice many people take to video a lot better. I also find it’s fun to narrate to a 1.5 min video - you just recreate your share each time - brief and to the point - works like a charm!

just another twist on what the iPhone is and is not :)
