iPhone of the future? Buttons that physically rise from the screen [VIDEO]

EAMEX of Osaka has developed a new thin haptic switch enabling buttons to rise and fall from the surface of a panel using an electro-conductive polymer actuator (a chemical that expands or contracts when voltage is applied.) On a pixel-sized scale, it might one day enable the tactile feedback that many find lacking in touchscreen interfaces.
