iPod Nano, Love It or Hate It?

Apple released the 3rd generation iPod Nano last Sept. 5. It was met with mixed reactions. Some people love it. Some people hate it. Which category do you fall under?

What’s To Love?
Video playback for one. The Nano now supports video playback that was previously found only on the 5th generation iPod. Video out capability. The Nano can output video to your T.V. and not only that it can play the full 640×480 resolution that are the resolutions found on iTunes. Games are another thing. It’s small. The previous Nano was small but this is smaller albeit wider.

What’s To Hate?
Quoting one friend of mine, she says “it’s so fugly that my Nano (2nd gen) has no choice but to live forever”. It is ugly. Seriously, it’s not funny. The screen is too small to be watchable or playable (games). Sure the resolution is higher but I’m having trouble watching for a long time on my 5th gen iPod as it is, much less a 2″ inch screen. The colors are a bit too girly. Men will probably get the silver, black or maybe the red. The other colors? Forget it.

So where do you belong? I’m an Apple fan but I’m not a blind fan who’ll like whatever rolls out of Cuppertino. I’m not liking the Nano. There’s something odd about the proportion. It kinda reminds me of a zippo lighter. The screen is too small for videos in my opinion.

So let me know what you think. Love it or hate it, share it with me.

Hate it as well. And to quote my cousin, “It looks more like an Unano (midget?) than a Nano” =)

I’m in the hate it category. I really like the old Nano’s design. And I for one, don’t think movies or videos should be watched on a screen that small. A totally unnecessary feature for my part.

Canon 400D vs Sony a100 vs Nikon D40

They cost roughly the same, but the Nikon D40 only has 6 Megapixels While the Canon/Sony has 10 Megapixels. Nikon found it very hard to compete, so they made a Nikon D40x which now has 10 MP. Most of us will never need that extra 4 MP, but most will still buy either one of the 10 MP cameras.

I think the option to put video on the Nano is due to competition and not for the need to have one, just like competition elsewhere.

Yes I love the 2 gen Nano’s design as well. As far as Nano’s go that one is the best.

Yeah, it may be due to competition that’s why the video function was added. I guess time will tell if that proves to be a good thing.
