iPod Touch Tip: Jot Down Notes with Contacts App

Jepaz one of PhilMUG’s members as well as the other person I interviewed for the iPod Touch came up with this handy tip for jotting down notes with the Contacts App. Currently the iPod Touch does not have a Notes App, which is a shame coz it hinders the iPod Touch from being a PDA as well as one of the best portable media players around. Until Apple or a someone else creates a Notes App for the iPod Touch, here’s a good work around.
Thanks for the tip Jepaz.
- Create Groups in your Mac’s Address Book to separate your Notes with the actual contact listings.
- Sync with your iPod touch.
- Tap Contacts and you should be able to see the groups created. Apparently, there is no way to create the groups in the touch.
- Tap the “+” symbol to add new entry.
- Make the “First” field as the title of your note then save.
- Tap “Add Field” and flick up to see “Note” value and tap it.
- Now you can enter your notes as long as you want and save.
- For modification, just select the specific contact with a note and simply tap the note field then make your changes.

nice, thanks for the tips! It seems there are more and more “workarounds” for the iPod touch. It’s just a shame that Apple didn’t include some of this functionality in the first place.
@Jen, yeah it’s a shame Apple “crippled” the iPod Touch. I’m still hoping that creative individuals out there will come up with workarounds/apps for the iPod Touch and make it a whole lot better.
