Is Bing Catching On? Good News for Bing

While there hasn’t been a massive shift in the search habits of Americans, the latest comScore numbers indicate that Bing may be slowly catching on. The numbers suggest that Bing is taking searchers away from both Google and Yahoo.
According to the comScore stats, the Google search engine saw a 3.53% drop in search traffic from June to July, while the Yahoo search engine saw a drop of 4.83%. Bing, on the other hand, saw their searches grow from June to July by 5.39%.
Microsoft has to be happy with these numbers. Even though Google and Yahoo have 64.7% and 19.3% of the total search traffic, respectively, Bing was able to grow from 8.4% to 8.9% in one month.
While Google will continue to have a firm grip on the search engine market, the reported deal between Yahoo and Bing could put up a good fight. If Bing can keep wooing searchers, marketers will have to seriously take a look at what that they have to offer. As it is, Google is far and away the most vital search engine for marketing purposes.

I have been watching Bing very closely. For now I think it’s novelty that pushed the traffic up slightly. I’m betting on Google to update their ‘interface’ and continue to dominate.
I’d like to hear about positive results from Bing if anyone has something to report. Is it time to open a test account on Bing? Are the CPCs cheaper because of the lower traffic?
