Is RED better for small businesses?

A recent survey by SurePayroll says that small business owners want Rudy Giuliani to be the next president. About 18 percent of small business owners picked the former NYC Mayor as their candidate of choice, followed closely by Fred Thompson and Hillary Clinton, who each received 16 percent.

Even more interesting (at least to me), more than 51% of respondents said they felt the Republican Party was more beneficial to small business. 27 percent said they did not think one party was better than the other in this respect, and 22 percent chose the Democratic Party.

So what makes the Republicans more attractive? One may think that it’s because the issues of small business owners may differ from the general public. But according to this survey, ‘it ain’t necessarily so’.

Even though small-business owners and the American public don’t necessarily agree on their party of choice, they do agree on the matters most central to the upcoming election. Both groups selected the economy as their primary concern, followed by the war in Iraq and national security.

I have to admit, I was a little surprised by this outcome.

So small business owners, tell me, are Republicans better for business – and why?

Oh yeah. And if you haven’t done so already, please take the poll as well. It’s over there…on the side. Thanks!

Hmm, I think this is a Catch-22 here. Republicans are better for all businesses because they are more lax at requiring businesses to provide health insurance and wanting to keep minimum wage very low.

That said, these principles help large businesses even more because of their economies of scale. The more money they make, the more stores they can open and the more small businesses they can take out.
