Is WoW Good for Your Marriage?

Over the years, I’ve heard people say a lot of things about World of Warcraft but I’ve never had anyone claim that it has strengthened their relationship. In fact, I’ve had several friends who have complained (even cried) about the fact that their spouse was more interested in the game than they were intheir marriage.

You can understand my surprise when I read an article by a woman titled “I Could Have Been A World Of Warcraft Widow.”  First of all, that’s an excellent word to describe the experience since my friends have said that it felt like their relationship had died or that they could cease to exist and their significant other wouldn’t even notice.

Intrigued, I wanted to hear how this writer got around being left behind.  This very articulate woman explained that she made the choice to meet her husband (and son) in their online realm and was welcomed with open arms.  In fact, her husband bought her a desktop computer that would make gaming easier and even made reservations at the Lion’s Pride Inn (a WoW hotel) for a second honeymoon!  WoW, indeed!

If you’d like to read the whole article (it’s worth it!), visit the Your Tango website.  Afterwards, tell me what you think?  Do you think that spouses should have to join online gaming communities to spend time together?
