It was a Pimp Party!
At the end of the day today — Tuesday — as I write this, we’re pretty tired. After all, it was LAUNCH DAY for us here at Pimp Your Work. You only get to experience one launch day and we had a really good time.
There were lots of visitors. Lots of comments. Lots of page views. And this is just the beginning. It was very social. It was a virtual party. And in the real world, I know I was pretty pumped up.
Did you note that? It’s a business blog, but it was, for this little piece of time, a party. A Pimp Party celebrating the work to get to the point where we could actually launch this blog as part of b5media.
The comparison to the business world is striking. We rarely celebrate the wins in our groups like we analyze the defeats. A lot of the time we never even acknowledge the win, but simply mark it off the checklist, give ourselves a four or five on our goal attainment, and then analyze how we could have done it better. You can always do the work better, right?
I’d contend that if you really want to Pimp Your Work, you need to celebrate the achievements — whether personal, as a team or as a department.
Building something is hard. Tearing something down is easy.
Celebrate your achievements because you’ve worked hard to make them an achievement. Have a Pimp Party.
Then, get back to work.

Scot, It’s been great creating this site with you. If it weren’t launch week, I’d say we should sit back and relax. Instead, next time I’m in Seattle, first round is on me!
