What are you doing for Halloween? Are you going to be sitting on your porch in that zombie costume (that your girl hates) waiting to scare the neighborhood kids? Are you throwing a party that is bound to have scantily clad witches, nurses, and go go dancers? Or are you planning to t.p. your bosses house? Either way each scenario involves cold temperatures.
What better way to stay warm then with some festive cocktails. The babes at your party will be more then pleased because we all know booty shorts aren’t exactly fall attire.
Below are some recipes intended to keep you cozy, festive, and the man of the hour.
1. The Hot Toddy! This is probably the most popular of the warmed cocktail variety. The recipes vary but I found an easy, fool proof one at Drink and Surf.
*Whiskey!!!!!! (1-2 shots depending on “how cold it is”). Jameson is my whiskey of choice!
*Hot Water
*Ground Cinnamon
*Lemon
*Honey
2. Hot Cider with Spiced Rum! We all remember bobbing for apples as kids (and failing miserably) looking up with soaked, half frozen faces and cursing the cold. Then Mom or Dad would save the day with hot apple cider! Want to know what’s better then that? Hot apple cider with BOOZE!
*1 Cup of Rum (or more).
*1 Apple
*2 Teaspoons of Whole Cloves
*2 Quarts of Apple Cider
*1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar
*1 Teaspoon of Allspice
*Pinch of Nutmeg
*Thinly Sliced Oranges
*Cinnamon Sticks for Garnish
Ok, Ok don’t get your knickers in a twist. I realize there are a lot of ingredients but I assure you it will be worth it. Just think of ‘Lil Miss Police Officer at your party shivering in the corner.
All you have to do is stick the cloves in the apple and throw it in a pot with all of the above ingredients (except the rum because the booze will burn off dummy). Bring it to a boil, remove from heat and THEN add the rum. Rum=yum!

3. The Holiday Pie. If the above recipe is too much work then here is a really simple one. It’s a drink where dessert and party collide. Again it’s like those nights as a kid where you would go for a hay ride and be freezing your @$$ off, whispering to yourself while rocking back and forth ‘it’s for the hot chocolate, it’s for the hot chocolate‘.
*1.5 Shots of Canadian Club Classic 12 (the good stuff)
*1 Shot of Starbucks Cream Liqueur (mmmmmm)
*Hot Chocolate!!!!!!!!!!
*Sprinkle with Pumpkin Pie Spice (when your guy friends aren’t looking)
So there you have it! Three amazing cocktails that will not only keep you (and your lady friends) warm but will make this Halloween one to remember (or forget).
Drink responsibly!
xoxo,
Brittany
