iTunes on Vista 64-bit

There are problems installing iTunes 7.5 on a 64-bit Vista after Quicktime gets installed successfully. The problem could be because iTunes wants to install in an unsecured setting that is why they want VBScript to be enabled.

To enable VBScript simply type “regsvr32 vbscript.dll” in the command console. Just make sure you run the console in administrator elevated privileges. Also, make sure you disable it after installing iTunes with “regsvr32 /u vbscript.dll” command.

After enabling the VBScript, issue the following commands in the command prompt:

1. mkdir “c:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime”
2. mklink /d “c:\Program Files\QuickTime” “c:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime”

That should solve your problem.

itunes is made by apple for for macs, and that is what it will work the best on,
the only reason they made itunes for windows is to be able to sell ipods to windows users.
I don’t think they are to worried about making it compatible with vista.

    microsoft sucks,
    GET A MAC!!!

  3. Actually, Apple sucks.

    GET A PC!!

Suck on that you stupid fanboy!

God, Mac fanboys are the worst!

Daniel – get a grip. Just cause you like your mac, doesn’t mean it’s the best for the MAJORITY of PC users in the world. Kudo’s to Apple for working on compatibility issues for the WORLDS MOST COMMON operating system. I hear penis envy is displayed in the same manner.

You don’t think they’re worried about making it compatible with Windows? LOL. Don’t know too much about business do you?

  7. me says:

biased much! and yes apple made itunes for their macs, its like windows media player for microsoft, however this dosent mean that they shouldn’t make their products compatible with both systems if they don’t fix it they will slowly lose customers and yes business run off their customers! oh and buy gthe way the only difference between macs new os leopard x and microsofts os vista is the layoutapple is more entertainment based and microsoft will do everything macs target market is those who don’t know much about computers and thosse who like all the entertainment features where as microsoft’s target market is everyone!

  8. Derrick says:

Macs suck, get a real computer with Linux!

  9. Spencer says:

This worked for me. Once you run the commands in the command prompt, restart your computer. THEN you can install iTunes with no issue hopefully. Good luck!
