James Davis Injury Update – Browns RB

September 12, 2009 by Stephen Kersey

During preseason action, James Davis was nearly flawless. The rookie running back out of Clemson averaged 7.8 yards per rush for the Cleveland Browns. But on the day before his first NFL game, Davis got injured.

Davis was injured in a one-car accident at approximately 8:00 AM ET as the RB was headed to the Browns practice facility. He’s now listed as questionable to play in Week 1 of the 2009 NFL season with an undisclosed head injury.

The car accident leaves the Browns short at running back. Starter Jamal Lewis is healthy but backup running back Jerome Harrison is also questionable. Cedric Peerman, another RB on the team, is listed as doubtful.

If all three of his backups are out, expect Lewis to get a lot of touches. The bad news for Lewis is that Cleveland is going up against the Minnesota Vikings — a team that has been almost impossible to run against in recent years.

Oh dang, this is no good. I hope he is okay and feeling better soon. My hubs loves the Browns and is always so hopeful every season. He never loses faith in them! I think he would probably stand on the side lines with our Topricin pain cream, ready to personally rub some cream on every injury if it meant that his beloved Browns would win! LOL ;)
