Jason Varitek files for divorce
Boston Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek has filed for divorce from his wife, Karen. According to several Boston newspapers, Varitek filed the motion on July 28 near his offseason home of Gwinnett County, Georgia.
It’s probably a hard time for the Sox captain with the divorce and the season winding down. I wonder why the couple couldn’t make it until the end of the season to file for divorce?
Varitek isn’t the only MLB player to go through divorce matters this season. Earlier this year, Alex Rodriguez went through the same process, which led to many rumors.
Boston is currently leading the American League wild card race, but trailing the Tampa Bay Rays by three games for the AL East lead. Varitek is batting .214 with eight home runs and 32 runs batted in this season for the Red Sox.
