Eight years ago, Jay-Z released The Blueprint. It debuted at No. 1 and has been certified two-time Platinum in the United States but was eclipsed by the horrible events of September 11, 2001. The album
was significant in a lot of ways, particularly in the rapping style (it was a great mix of mainstream and hardcore) but it also helped catapult Kanye West, who produced four of the track, into the music industry.
The following year, Jay-Z released The Blueprint 2: The Gift and the Curse (which sold 4 million copies and debuted at number one) and now he’s ready to release The Blueprint³. He has chosen a September 11, 2009 release date.
This will be Jay-Z’s last album with Def Jam Recordings (he will use his “Live Nation” label in the future) and, fittingly, Kanye is co-producing it. It feels like everything is coming full circle!
Jay-Z will begin touring across the U.S. with Ciara on July 3, 2009 in in Las Vegas.
