If you have purchased beef made by JBS Swift Beef Co, based in Greely, Wyoming, you would do well to immediately get rid of it, according to JBS Swift itself. A spokesman for the company issued a statement today confirming that the company would be issuing a voluntary recall of its beef products due to a fear of E. coli contamination.
So far, no cases of illness have been reported and the company maintains that the recall is completely voluntary. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the possibly contaminated beef products were made on April 21 and 22, and were then shipped to Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, and Wisconsin.
The meat was sent in boxes with an “EST. 969” designation and all of the packaging has date codes, namely 042109 and 042209. If you live in any of the affected states, make sure to check any beef products to see whether or not they have any of the designations of the recalled products.
