JCPenney’s Green A.N.A Line

Somehow I missed the news that this March, JCPenney’s introduced a new green line of clothing and housewares. The Simply Green line, in clothing at least, is part of the store’s A.N.A. brand.
I was in line to pay for a purchase tonight, and the green line of tee shirts was right by the cash register…and that little marketing plan worked, because I picked one of those up as well! It’s made with organize cotton that, according to the sign, was not grown using pesticides and other harmful chemicals.
I have to say, I’m super happy with my purchase…but it was kinda hidden in a weird half-wall in the store. If the line to pay wouldn’t have been so long, I never would have noticed it.
JCPenney, show your green side more strongly!!!
Here’s the shirt I bought. Cute, right? (mine is the “hug a tree” tee, but brown instead of jade-colored)

Allison, that’s really interesting. I wonder why they have kept the line “under wraps” – do you think they fear it might be off-putting to their demographic?
That’s a really good question, Kelly. I’m curious to know if this was a conscious choice or if this particular store just had no other room for the new line when they got the shipment in.
I heard about this on topbutton.com (the new eco section), but I’m not in the habit of shopping at JCPenney. Maybe their green clothes will be more appealing though. I’ll have to check it out.
