Jessica Simpson, Tony Romo, and the Playoffs

The NFL playoffs have the pressure of an on-two-hours-too-long crock pot. As a QB, then, a pre-postseason vacay with your girlfriend sounds like an appealing idea.

Maybe a little less so when her parents come too, but still.

Simpson, her ‘rents, and Romo slipped across the Rio Grande for a quickie—uh, quickie vacation, that is—to Los Cabos. The presence of Papa “Hovers Like a Harrier Jet” Simpson didn’t totally cramp the couple’s style, however, as several of Romo’s Dallas Cowboys teammates went along for the sand and surf getaway.

Will Romo get his groove back or will the Mexican sun he enjoyed with his Hollywood hottie leave him high and dry come game time Sunday?

Romo will be fine. So says defensive end Mike Strahan of the New York Giants (who will face the NFC #1-seeded Cowboys) in a press chat revealing his girlfriend envy good sportsmanship. Besides, Strahan added, he wouldn’t mind pairing up with Simpson (and by default her parents, right?) should Romo give up the gig.

As for Simpson, her work here is done. At least for now: She won’t be in attendance at Sunday’s game.

She claims to be too busy working on her new country album, but we’re preeetttty sure it’s that whole “bad luck charm” label keeping her away.

Not to worry. Jessica Simpson will be there in spirit, since masks with her likeness are available for Giants fans.
