Joba Chamberlain, the young pitcher for the New York Yankees with the high ceiling, plead guilty to drunken driving in the state of Nebraska. On Wednesday, he was fined and put on probation. The other charge he was facing for having an open alcohol container was dropped.

The incident occurred in October in the city of Lincoln. Tests showed that Chamberlain had a .13% blood alcohol level when he was pulled over. Nebraska’s legal blood alcohol limit is .08%.
“I made a mistake,” said Chamberlain in a statement, “and hope over time to turn this into a positive learning experience for me and others.”
In his latest spring training outing, the native of Nebraska pitched 5.1 innings as the Yankees beat the Cincinnati Reds. During the regular season, Chamberlain is expected to be the team’s fifth starter. Last year, he split his time between the starting rotation and the bullpen.
