Joe Namath blasts the Jets

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Joe Willie Namath is never short on opinions

Joe Namath was the greatest. He called the greatest upset in history and pulled it off when his upstart AFL Jets beat the established NFL Colts.
The final score was 17 – 7. The Colts were 18 point favorites. Joe Falls the venerable writer for the Detroit sports area predicted 280 – 0.
It was all Joe Willie Namath.
After boldly guaranteeing a victory prior to the game, Jets quarterback Joe Namath completed 17 out of 28 passes for 206 yards, and was named the Super Bowl’s Most Valuable Player, despite not throwing a touchdown pass in the game.
Now Joe has some more opinions about the New York Jets, only they are not quite as complementary. After complaining about how poorly the Jets were playing against the Chiefs and how bad Brett Favre was getting bounced around, Joe had some comments on the current NFL coaches.
Maynard took aim at Mangini and his professional brethren who have no experience playing professional football.
“You have 106 coaches in the NFC that’s never played pro ball, you got 126 in the AFC that’s never played pro ball,” Maynard said. “You got 64 coaches that never played college football, so now you know why the knowledge of pro football has gone downhill. They don’t even do what we did in offenses and defenses.”
