Joey Harrington & Nick Saban – is justice served?

Nick abandoned the Spartans?
A lot of my friends just so happen to be Michigan State University Spartan fans. They have never forgiven Nick Saban for leaving town to go to LSU. It looked as if he had no loyalty, that he just took the money and ran. Of course, you would have turned down 2.3 million dollars to remain loyal Spartans!
Sadly, it took place during the Spartans best season in a long time. Nick left town right before the 2000 Florida Citrus Bowl.
These same friends are also… enormous Detroit Lions fans and have suffered all their lives with the Lion’s losing ways. They still blame Joey Harrington for a lot of the losing that took place in the previous four years. Heck, they blame him for years he was not even there.
For these friends and fans of the Spartans and Lions it seem to them that justice is served; that somehow the great football deity in the sky has brought Nick and Joey together in Miami to lose games together, to suffer together, to somehow make up for what happened in East Lansing and Detroit Michigan. You know, a kind of an atone for their sins sort of thing.
Now the truth be told on both subjects. For one, Nick wanted to stay at MSU. He admitted as much to close friends, but there were those on the Board that had had enough of Nick and his callous ways. It would not have taken much, not even as much money, to keep him in East Lansing, home of the Spartans, but the offer was never really made in a way to keep him there.
The Board of Trustees refused to reach out and ask Nick to stay. To this day the Board seems to be warring with itself.
Joey made Lions lose?
On the other subject, while Joey did not turn out to be the second coming of John Elway; he also was not the blame for all the losing. For gosh sakes, they are 0 and 5 right now. Guess they did not improve much by losing Joey!
It was a fact that Joey struggled to be accurate short with his passes and was not real nimble with his feet, both qualities needed in a Run and Shoot quarterback. So, it was more like he was the wrong guy at the wrong time.
Then again, why does your intrepid author take special joy in seeing Nick and Joey losing together? :)
