Thank You Message

My friend Dr. Ed Brenegar has a very important message to share with the world, and I wanted to pass it on to you because he needs your support by January 15th, 2009.

Ed’s lesson is very simple: “Say, Thanks, every day.”

What does that mean?

Lots of things really.

You can read all about what Ed believes this means at his Revolution in Thanks and Welcome. It’s changed the way I think about these 2 simple things: thanks and welcome.

How can you help Ed?

Vote for his idea at http://www.johnnybunko.com/contestballot/ His lesson is Say, Thanks, every day. The voting goes through January 15, so please vote soon.

Quoting Ed: “My strategy for winning the contest is not to focus on the vote, but on my 7th lesson. It really is a winner of an idea. Just think about what it means to “Say, Thanks, every day.” It is a powerful idea.”

Thanks for your attention.

As Marshall Goldsmith stated in his book “What got you here won’t get you there” if someone offers a suggestion or idea to simply say “Thank you.” The example he gives is you don’t belittle someone for giving you a gift – you simply say “thank you.” Any idea or suggestion is a “gift” so why do we cut the gift or individual down?

  2. The number of people you help, acknowledge, and appreciate on your way up is inversely proportional to how far (and fast) you will fall on your way down. It is so tempting to think that our career arc will always be up, but circumstances have a way of catching up wtih everyone.

Without question, “saying thank you every day” gives you the best advantage of all: great relationships with people who will help you when you want or need that help.

The single best thing you can do to achieve your dream is to figure out how to help other people achieve theirs. Everyone’s dream includes being acknowledged and appreciated. You can do that without even thinking, and you should.

By the way, I’m blogging about gratitude at http://thanksgivingyear.blogspot.com and a few days ago wrote a post about a CEO who reached out to me to say “thanks,” instantly turning me into a lifelong fan. Who among us doesn’t want more fans?

  3. Ed Brenegar says:

One way to make it great is to say thanks. It opens up all kinds of opportunities in our relationships. It releases from the constraints that hold us back. It is the attitude to have during a recession.
Thanks Phil for post. And thanks everyone for voting. You can vote at http://www.johnnybunko.com/contestballot/
