****Important Bulletin****
We interrupt this blog to bring forth the following important message.
The Squibster celebrated his first year as the author of Squibkick!
My first blog was last July 1, 2006.
Thank You for all the fan support.
It has been my pleasure!

Oooooh, it is so tough being a Lions fan. The losing, the pain, the losing, the humiliation, and the losing.
And it would be remiss of me not to mention the losing.
Finally, along comes a guy named Rod Marinelli and he seems to be doing it differently.
Oh, there is still the losing, but now there are attitude adjustments. A sort of cleaning out of the deadwood, if you know what that means.
This year the Lions are starting to rebuild and move in a positive long term direction for the first time in years and some may say decades. So why do the players have to act like it is a done deal and look so foolish?
You know, putting up with Roy Williams and his constant chatter is kind of fun.
One game he will predict a certain Lions victory against maybe the Bears and another game he will predict 2 touchdown catches against another good opponent.
In both cases, nothing may happen, but it does not matter. Roy has the gift of wild gab and he uses it.
Williams has no shortage of confidence, so learn to live with it, because he is not shutting up.
But never, oh never, did any of us expect this kind of behavior out of Jon Kitna. First he predicts a 10 victory season. Did he notice that the team only won 3 games and has some serious weaknesses on defense?
Now Jon is predicting a 50 touchdown pass season! In Kitna’s defense, he did say it jokingly. Still Jon is about as straight as a straight shooter can get. This type of talk is just so surprising.
Having already made waves by saying the Lions will win 10 games this year, the quarterback mentioned another far-out figure during an appearance on ESPN’s “Mike and Mike in the Morning” radio show Friday.
Asked how many touchdown passes he will throw this season, Kitna replied: “We’ve been joking around as the passing-game crew — the receivers and tights ends and stuff — we’ve been breaking down our little huddles saying ‘50′ and all that stuff.
“But we know that’s an awful lofty goal.” source
Should we be shamed? No.
Should we be embarrassed? No. Last year, the Lions won 3 games. That was embarrassing.
Should we turn our back on Kitna and the Lions? No.
Well?
The answer to that is simple. Something good must be happening to the Lions for Kitna to be saying things like 10 wins and 50 touchdown passes.
Will they win 10 games? Highly unlikely, but what if they reached 8? Maybe thinking you will win 10 helps you get 8.
Will Kitna throw anything near 50 touchdown passes? No, but again, he should get more than the 21 from last year, so maybe even joking about throwing 50 shows the confidence they have in themselves and everything flows from confidence.
Maybe Jon Kitna will break an NFL record. That would be Roy Williams’s record for bad predictions by a player!
NFL Football Fan Question How many will the Lions win? How many touchdown passes will Kitna throw?
As always, any NFL Football related comments are welcome.

Lions will start off strong and end up winning 7 games. Detroits offensive line breaks down with injuries, Lions struggle to get their running game going and Kitna will be knocked out before the season ends. Drew Stanton will be the starter by the end of the season. Lions fans again have no team in the playoffs.
Squibster, I always think the Lions will do well during the upcoming season, but then the season starts. Injuries, hold-outs, suspensions, players not performing up to expectations all contribute to high expectations crashing around another season of losing every year for as long as I can remember. I hope this year is different. It would be nice if they actually won something before they made predictions like that. Can you say Lomas Brown?
Hearty congrats on the anniversary! Well done, sir…
Thank you, Geoff
Mike and Ron B Free, you know your Lions too well. And yet we always come back for more…
