Jonic (shocked): By Heaven’s Light, Sir!

File this one under holy shit…
I know I feature a lot of speedruns here, but this one utterly demands your attention… This speedrun grabs you by the lapels and beats you mercilessly for your attention. Mercilessly.
Not content with speedrunning one game, Sean P (or DeHackEd) decided to wire one SNES pad to two consoles and speedrun two games at once.

It’s not often that I’m at a loss for words, and although I don’t appear to be in such a state of paralysis, I don’t think there is a single hyperbole that could suitably illustrate this herculean of tasks and its successful completion.
Mega Man games are hard enough as it is. Mega Man 2 is one of my favorite games ever, but I never finished it… Hot damn that game is hard. I don’t know how many different ways my brain would expire if I contemplated completing two Mega Man games at once.
Sean does just that, impressively conquering Mega Man and Mega Man X2 with one controller.

Due to the movies double width nature this isn’t on YouTube, and probably won’t make its on there because of YouTube’s tiny video player, which is a massive shame. If you’ve ever seen a speedrun before, forget what you saw and please download this. It’s unbelievable.
Try not to cack your crackers when he fights both end of game bosses at once. Imagine your host sitting at his desk, jaw flapping, unable to comprehend what I was witnessing.
At certain points during playback it appears that these two games were designed to be played in tandem, and whereas this is obviously not the case, Sean does a good job of tempting you to think otherwise.
Also of note is the fact that both endings borrow from endings from the Sonic series:

Angel/Floating Island? (S&K)

Death Egg Destruction? (Sonic 2)
Anyway, that aside this is incredible stuff. If you’ve never seen a speed run before, or if you thought that guy what finished Mario 64 in a quarter of an hour was talented, then you should take a look at this. It really is amazing…
Like “by the Lord Harry, sirrah” kind of amazing…
Check the technique, see if you can follow it (download the movie) – Via Make

I think its cool but I doubt its authenticity. When he’s firing in one game he should be firing in the other too…
It syncs up well enough for me… I noticed that too, and I can’t explain why it happens, but it seems to ridiculous to make up, let alone fake…
Like you say, it’s very cool, but like most speedruns it’s tool assisted, so I guess we’ll never know just what happened while it was being recorded…
Griiiiiit!
