Back in June I wrote about an out of work investment banker who took his job search to the streets of New York City. I am pleased to report that he is now gainfully employed!!! :)
Not long after my post, Mr. Persky sent me a link to his blog.
He now credits his blog with helping him land a job at an accounting firm, Weiser LLP.
Since Mr. Persky’s job search hit the news circuit, several other struggling Americans, particularly from the finance sector, have taken to the streets in search of work. A few have made to CNN.
Who knows how long it will take them to get jobs and I wonder how the publicity impacts their prospects. For the most part, Wall Street’s finest are mostly faceless. I mean that just in terms of the mainstream media. The CEOs have become famous (or infamous) because of the credit crunch and subsequent bailout, but prior I would venture to say that the average person didn’t know or care about Dick Fuld or Vikram Pandit.
Mr. Persky is an MIT grad with an impressive resume and he was unemployed for close to a year. How much of that time, if any, could be attributed to the attention he attracted by hunting for a job in public?
