I recently started reading the book Radically Transparent which was co-authored by Andy Beal and Dr. Judy Strauss with the forward by Robert Scoble. The whole purpose of this book is to teach you how to monitor and manage your online reputation and the importance of doing this.

As I read this book and apply what I learn, I will be sharing in this column for the next 5 weeks (on Mondays) so that you can learn from my journey to radical transparency and to encourage you to take your own journey. The first step in my journey will involve the following areas:
- Your World Is Now Radically Transparent (Chapter 1)
- You Don’t Own your Company’s Reputation (Chapter 2)
- Developing Your Personal Brand (Chapter 3)
Become Radically Transparent
Taking the first step to radical transparency may be scary but keep in mind that as you take this journey that you are starting to take control over how your business name and your personal name are used by others. Also it allows you to open communication with your network about your brand, in essence a form of brand management. According to the book,
Radically transparent means being open and honest online, admitting mistakes, engaging stakeholders in discussions about you and your brands and even revealing your internal processes.
Growing Your Business the Radically Transparent Way
Grow, grow, grow! It’s all about growing your online presence as you become more transparent.
Become a Radically Transparent Individual
I am a very private person when it comes to specific things. What this book is teaching me as an individual that it’s OK to share openly via my personal blog (KimBeasley.com) so that I can be more real to others. I remember that when I shared in 2008 about my business makeover that it was encouraging to others and beneficial to them.
As you join me on this journey I want to applaud you. These first few step will help me and you build our foundation of being radically transparent. As we start our journeys, let’s challenge others to take the same journey and share about their experiences too. Feel free to leave a comment so others can learn from your journey too.

Thanks for the nice words about our book! I applaud your effort to be more personal online. You will find it fun as you meet other like minded folks. Judy
