Just once…
We all have dreams.
Some of us even wake up.
Most of us forget our dreams.
Or we don’t feel entitled to our own dream.
What is your “just-once” dream as a manager.
Articulate your dream by completing the following sentence:
Just once I’d like to ___________________ .
Perhaps you’d like to just once have an empty inbox, or just once you’d like to tell your manager what you really think, or just once you’d like to put a pillow on your desk, curl up into a ball, and wake up in a place far, far away from your cubicle.
No dream is to big or small. What is it that you dream of doing just once…
Go ahead complete the sentence in the comment section.
Can you do it for me, just this once?

Just once I’d like to bring my band to a client’s meeting and rock the house instead of sitting around measuring results.
Steve:
I hear the music and I hope you do this!
David
Something tells me the opening song will also be my consulting finale.
Aaa–money is vastly overrated, especially by my mortgage holder.
Of course many many mortgage holders are also singing the blues so I wonder if you have thought of them as possible clients!
That’s a really good question. Just once I’d like to finish a day with every “to do” crossed off my list. I like the clean email inbox one too, can I pick two?
Sara,
May your dream come true on the to do and may your inbox be empty.
David
from your mouth to god’s ears!
Nice thought Sara but,
Just once I’d like someone with real power to listen to me…
David
ha!
Sara,
You say “ha” but the person in power probably says “nah”
David, doesn’t God have “real power?”
Bridget,
As a Slacker I hesitate to get into God talk but I keep talking and hope that I am heard. Of course, maybe it is I, that should be doing the listening.
David
I like this idea for everyone at work. Just think of the common bond is could bring for everyone to find out they may have different opinions, but they all dream the same dreams. And, just for the record, “Just once…I want a midday nap (in a hammock on the beach) to be mandated by law.”

Anita,
You have my vote as the new workplace law maker, I could live the nap dream and it sounds so much better than curling up on a desk!
David
Oh David…here’s my “dream.” Got sidetracked by the “power” comment.
I would LOVE to complete each and every project that I have and be totally caught up. Just once. Then, spend an entire day at the mall, unwinding. You know – - from all that catching up I did!
Bridget:
Don’t get too caught up in getting caught up, don’t mean to sound like spiderman here but I do get caught up in the Internet web. Have a fine day at the mall because when you drop the m off of mall you have it ALL!
David
Hey, that was pretty good! But as entrepreneurs, shouldn’t we focus on “catching up”? Wouldn’t our lives be so much easier if we could get caught up?
Probably over-rated, huh?
I’d like to have a meeting start on time AND end on time.
Phil,
You get right to the point, now if we could just get those meetings right on time.
David
Hi. Good stuff….stumbled upon it as I was browsing the gmail blog. Just once I wish I could really share my opinions and criticisms of the company with my superiors.
Susmita:
A shame to be silent but I know many people who would share your wish.
