Justin Timberlake to Star as Astros Minor Leaguer

Pop star Justin Timberlake is filming a movie that has him playing the role of a baseball player on the Corpus Christi Hooks. The Hooks are the Houston Astros’ Double-A team.
The movie, which is entitled “The Open Road,” is about a minor league baseball player who is trying to get home to be his ailing mother. Jeff Bridges, Mary Steenburgen and Kate Mara also star in the movie, while Michael Meredith is the writer-director. Michael Meredith is the son of Don Meredith, a former quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.
Timberlake said he hopes to meet with players on the Hooks to better understand what it’s like playing for the Astros’ Double-A team.
