KC’s Maier hit in face with pitch – VIDEO

Here’s a play you hate to see as Kansas City Royals batter Mitch Maier is hit in the face by a pitch Wednesday night. Maier was taken out of the game and later learned he has a fractured cheekbone.

Maier was squaring around in order to put down a sacrifice bunt when the pitch came too far inside. However, Maier still cracked a joke after the game, saying that he should have “got the first bunt down.”
