Kentucky Attempts to Seize Gambling Sites

This week has signaled a new level in Orwellian weirdness in the case of U.S. Government officials versus the internet gaming universe, in that Kentucky officials have launched an attempt to take over Kentucky based gambling sites including ones related to Full Tilt, Ultimate Bet, Doyles Room, and more.

They’ve decided that a Kentucky law stating allowance of seizure of ‘devices’ that enable unlawful gambling. Thus, an initiative fronted by Kentucky governor  Steve Beshear will attempt to have those sites turned over to the stat.

“Unlicensed, unregulated, illegal Internet gambling poses a tremendous threat to the citizens of the Commonwealth because of its ease, availability and anonymity,” Steve Beshear said. “The owners and operators of these illegal sites prey on Kentucky citizens, including our youth, and deprive the Commonwealth of millions of dollars in revenue. It’s an underworld wrought with scams and schemes.”

We’ve seen some pretty ridiculous launches against the gaming commission, but this might be one of the most clearly ridiculous of all. Can’t wait to see how this one goes down.
