Kerry Collins: Future Country Songwriter

Kerry Collins, who has bounced around the NFL and is of late the quarterback of the Tennessee Titans, attended the CMT (country music awards) last week. Which makes sense since he wants to be a country music songwriter.

I’ll forgo the jokes that compare Collins’ NFL career to a country song. (Or maybe I won’t.) Collins led the Titans to an awesome season in 2008, but his career has been up and down. He’s had a much-publicized bout with alcohol and has played for half a dozen teams in the NFL. But last week he got to do a skit with Taylor Swift and talk to one of his country music heroes, Alan Jackson. He said, “I told him about basically from September through December, I basically played his CD in my truck and it was a big part of my year last year.”
Whatever works! One thing is for sure, we’ll be looking forward to hearing Collins’ songs when he’s done with football.
