Saving passwords has been both a Godsend as well as a source of frustration for me. I’m sure it’s the same for some. It’s happened that I save a password for an application such as iChat, take it for granted and then when I try to login to iChat from a different machine I suddenly realize I’ve forgotten my password. Thank God for Keychain. I’ll show you how to retrieve your password from Keychain.

1. Open Keychain – Go to Applications -> Utilities -> Keychain Access.

2. Select the Password item on the sidebar.
3. Search for the application or internet password you’re looking for. (In this example we’re looking for the AIM application password.

4. Double click on the item to open the dialog box.
5. Check the Show Password box. You’ll be asked to enter a password. Enter your Mac OS X account password and the application password will be revealed.
