Kia Motors America (KMA) has teamed up with Microsoft to launch a new video game marketing campaign. Beginning today, April 18, 2009, Kia has opened up a national sweepstakes on Xbox.com, Xbox LIVE and several popular Xbox 360 titles that allows gamers the chance to win an all new Kia Soul.
Additionally, the winner will also receive a VIP, all expenses paid trip to the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) on June 2-4, 2009 in Los Angeles. E3 is world’s top trade show for computer and video games. Gamers can enter through Xbox.com/Kia or on Xbox LIVE Marketplace through the end of the month. They can also enter to win by texting “75920″ on their mobile phone to their Gamertag.
Following the Kia Download & Win Sweepstakes, the company will launch additional components of this marketing effort in June. They will be sponsoring E3 coverage of Xbox LIVE, as well as sponsoring XBox’s NBA Live 09, which coincides with the NBA Finals in June.
“By teaming with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 platform we have the unique opportunity to connect with gaming enthusiasts at a level never-before-seen in the gaming world,” said Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing of KMA. “We are thrilled to team up with Microsoft to give a lucky gamer a Soul urban passenger vehicle, which just arrived in dealerships a few weeks ago and has already received several notable accolades, including an award for the ‘Grooviest Interior’.”
The all-new 2010 Kia Soul is being marketed toward a young, hip audience. With a low price tag (starting at less than $14K), unique personalization options and an emphasis on youth style, it makes sense to market the car through the gaming platform.
