Kodak Meets Green Goals

Kodak is a company that jumped on the green bandwagon before there was even a driver. After setting great environmental goals for themselves in 2002, they’ve announced this week how they’ve begun to meet those goals.

Since 2003, Kodak has…

  • …reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 28%
  • …recycled/reused over 42 million pounds of waste, including 1.2 billion one-time use cameras
  • …lowered energy consumption 30%
  • …used 23% less packaging for their Dryink products

As part of these goals, which they are calling the Kodak Responsibility Growth goals, they’ve also reduced workplace injuries by 58% and make all company kiosks more accessible to the handicapped.

Kudos to the great job, Kodak!

Hi. I’ve spent a half-hour searching for a way to email encouraging feedback to the Kodak Corp., in vain. Your blog article didn’t help me with that either. This is not the first time that my attempt to communicate with a big company has been thwarted.

Here’s a thought worth pondering: What’s with major corporations (like Toyota and Kodak) not providing a means of hearing from their customers? Sure, they avoid hearing gripes. But what about the missed encouragement messages and the occasional good, free ideas? Feedback to businesses is like blood and nerves inside a body, vital to functioning and certainly necessary for the learning process to occur. Surely it’s worth their while to have such messages sent to someone. You out there: Do you know of ways that companies get such feedback, besides polls (which are not free) that miss individuals who are dying to get their point across? Maybe you know something that I don’t.
