LA WEIGHT LOSS: Store Closure Rumors (UPDATE)

July 24, 2008 by Sean Kelly

(Franchise Pick) FOR THE FULL LIST OF LA WEIGHT LOSS STORE CLOSINGS (RUMORS), VISIT DEAR VAHAN. Three consistent comments we get about LA Weight Loss: 1) My LA Weight Loss center closed/is closing, 2) They owe me a refund, and 3) I’m mad because the program was working.

Why is it that customers are willing to paying thousands of dollars, yet centers are closing. Got me. But I do know this: If you’re an LA Weight Loss customer, prepay at your own risk.

I live in Colorado and from what I have been told all the centers in the state will be closed by the end of August I signed up for something called LA to go where supposedly someone from corporate will call me 3 times a week and I can pay for product and they will ship it to me free of charge.. I am beginning to wonder about that after reading all the posts. This is a real bummer as it was really working for me. - susan

  1. I’ve seen centers closing in Atlanta. I’m glad to see this. I did the LA Weight Loss program in 2006. I did lose weight but was given very bad advice by the counselors such as:

You aren’t losing weight because you are drinking too much water.

You only have to count butter if you spread it on something. You can use as much butter as you want if you are cooking in it. (Really, they told me that. SO WRONG!!)

Don’t do any weight training or use weights when you exercise. This isn’t good for you. (WHAT?)

Take alot of naps. You will lose weight while you sleep. (My favorite.)

I quit the program and sold all of my unopened bars, vitamins, recipe books, etc on eBay. Made a pretty nice profit too! At least I got some money back out of the deal.

  2. AMy says:

I am not as concerned about the product owed to me as I am about the two years of membership I have already paid for. I just joined at the end of March.

  3. ritajwilson says:

The whole company is going under. They are struggling to restructure, but with todays economy they are doomed. I find it outrageous that they still sign up clients knowing they are closing weeks later.

  4. Lori Seymour says:

My understanding is the centers in Nashville, TN area, Memphis, TN area, Atlanta, GA all of Colorado, and Montanta are in the process of being closed. I remember someone in the meeting also saying Boise ID and lots of the rocky mountain centers were going to be cut.

  5. Liz says:

Lori Seymour I was just curious what meeting you are referring to where someone saidd these centers were closing? I am a employee of a center in Tennessee.

  6. Cheryl Schut says:

I am owed a refund from a Colorado center closure (Thornton) -I never received the refund. When I attempted to contact the center manager, she did not return my call. How are they allowed to get away with keeping people’s money? Can’t the Better Business Bureau step in with some sort of assistance?
