You know, the advancement of technology is truly a wonder to behold.
LaCie just announced the LaCinema Rugged HD, a high-def version of its portable multimedia storage hard drive, allowing you to play HD content at full 1080p resolution. The 500GB Rugged HD can store up to 700 movies, 165,000 songs, or 165,000 photos, and comes in a package about the size of a stack of 3×5 index cards, and weighing just under 9 ounces. Can you imagine? All that storage space in such a tiny package?

The Rugged HD is compatible with all common digital file formats, and works with any HDMI supported display. It’s built to stand up to abuse, with a scratch-resistant aluminum shell, internal anti-shock absorbers, and a shock-resistant outer rubber bumper. It even comes with its own remote control.
LaCie is selling the LaCinema Rugged HD directly from its own website for $349.99 (though they’re out of stock at the time of this writing).
