LaDainian Tomlinson – Does LT want to leave the Chargers?

LT says – You want me smiling, don’t you?

LT has lost his best friend, Drew Brees, one year and then a great coach that he respected, Marty Schottenheimer, the next year.

The real question is will he pull a Barry Sanders and walk away from football?

Barry, you remember, walked away when a former Charger Coach, Bobby Ross, was in charge of the Lions.

Barry upset a lot of people with his timing and the fact that he did not even say goodbye.

Barry left on he brink of all kinds of running records and was basically uninjured and in his prime.

Could the same thing happen to LT… and the Chargers?

Merrill Hoge: The Chargers aren’t just potentially alienating Tomlinson, but also the rest of their team. This is a squad that has lost its Pro Bowl quarterback (Drew Brees) and future Hall of Fame coach in successive years. These were both guys who the players loved and respected. They’ve already seen Brees go on to have a great season with the New Orleans Saints. What is going to happen if they don’t improve this season and Schottenheimer gets a head coaching job in a season or two and is able to take that team to the Super Bowl? source

It really grinds me when a player is in position to dictate policy and then attempts to actually do that.

None the less, it would be proactive on the Chargers management, if they went to LT before he speaks up.

They could easily include him in the hiring process in some form and thus keep him happy. He is the key to their future success.

LT had a terrific year; you have to give him his due and his respect!
