Langer to quit (yawn)

It seems you can’t wake up nowadays without a story breaking about a member of Australia’s side giving up in the face of adversity. First it was Damien Martyn, then it was Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath and now, as I predicted, Justin Langer has handed in his notice, signifying the end of Australia’s prolific-run-scoring-opening-partnership-machine. My money is on Matt Hayden to step down next.

Ironically, despite all the rivalry and pom-bashing, both Langer and Warne have confirmed that they’ll be playing County Cricket in England this season, for Somerset and Hampshire respectively. How many years do you have to be resident in a country before you become eligible to play for the International side? The 2016 Ashes could be very interesting…
