Larry Johnson Needs A Dose Of Reality

Larry Johnson, the Kansas City Chiefs former running back standout, needs a dose of reality.
It’s been
rumored that Johnson was in a bit of a tizzy after the Chiefs horrendous display against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, which resulted in a 23 – 8 loss. (Could my beloved Chiefs get any worse??)
“I’ve got to sit back and figure that the writing is on the wall, that this season or next season could be my last season as a Chief,” Johnson said, according to SI. “I’m not dumb. I know what’s going on. I sense what’s going on. Nobody should run the ball if it isn’t me. I always felt that way. If I’m not getting the ball, then I should be tired. If I’m not tired and I’m not getting the ball, then there’s something going on. I’ve just got to deal with it.”
The fact is that the Larry Johnson of today is not the productive running back he once was. He’s still got the ego, though. That hasn’t gone away at all — it’s actually gotten worse. Even if the Chiefs did have an offensive line that could actually block, the spring is gone from Johnson’s step. He’ll be traded or leave for another team on his own accord soon enough. And once he’s as productive there as he is now, maybe he’ll realize that his days as a dominating running back are over.
