Laugh Your Way to Inner Peace?

Ok, at first I thought yeah, ok.  Now I can kind of see it.  I had heard a little bit about Laughter Yoga, but I never took it seriously (no pun intended).  But it seems to be sweeping the globe, growing to over 6,000 clubs worldwide.

According to the Laughter Yoga website, it is touted as a “physically-oriented technique that uses a perfect blend of playful, empowering and otherwise “tension-releasing” simple laughter exercises, interspersed with gentle breathing and stretching exercises, rhythmic clapping and chanting of Ho Ho Ha Ha Ha in unison.”

Me being me, I thought this is kind of silly.  But I tried it, and it does kind of work.  After all, we all feel better after a good laugh, right?  So why wouldn’t the same hold true for Laughter Yoga.

Check out the site for yourself and see what you think.  You can find it at www.laughteryoga.org, where you can locate a club near you, or just learn more about the technique.

I don’t know what I think of Laughter Yoga as a full-blown practice yet.  But any exercise or activity that emphasizes laughter as its key component has some value, right? Meanwhile, me being me, I am going to stick with some of the more traditional ways of connecting through my practice for my regular routine. Not ready for the laughing academy full-time–yet.

Peace and giggles.

I have heard of this, but paying for it? I’ll just call up a good friend. Laughing is good though, for the mind, soul and abs.

  2. I love yoga, and I’m all for laughing, but I think going to this type of class would be more occasional than regular for me.

We posted a video from the Oprah show on this recently. It did look like a good time!

I just checked out that video and had to laugh. umm?? lol

  4. It seems strange to me, but hey laughter is the best medicine for everything, right? None of the local places work well for me on time, or I might just check one out to see what it was like…

Very interesting! I just started including yoga into my routine….no laughing of course. Thanks for sharing!
