As if we didn’t already know, Seattle Storm center Lauren Jackson will captain the Australian national team this year in the lead-up to the Olympic games. From AP:

Lauren Jackson will lead a full-strength Australian women’s basketball team on home soil for the first time in eight years next month as the side prepares for the Beijing Olympics.

The reigning MVP of the United States’ WNBA with the Seattle Storm, Jackson will captain the Opals in a two-game series against Brazil in Wollongong, south of Sydney, on July 28 and in Sydney on July 30.

Jackson will miss five Storm games as the Opals prepare to defend their gold medal.
