LeBron James Crab Dribble – Video

January 4, 2009 by Stephen Kersey

LeBron James evidently doesn’t know what constitutes a traveling in the NBA. After being called for traveling against the Washington Wizards on Sunday, LeBron said after the game that it wasn’t traveling — it was instead a crab dribble. Watch the video at the end of this blog entry to see LeBron’s supposed crab dribble.

The funny part is that LeBron said he watched the replay and said it wasn’t a travel. Really? Watch the video and you can clearly see LeBron taking three steps. Perhaps if he would have jump stopped after his “crab dribble” it wouldn’t have been a travel.

LeBron has gotten away with a few travels in the past but the refs caught this one. Watch the LeBron James crab dribble video here:

    Yeah, that’s a travel.

I have no idea what he was complaining about.

I see SEVERAL “superstars” do this (notably, Dwayne Wade), and they rarely call it.

Glad they did and hope this becomes a trend in the NBA.

WHAT YOUU TALKIN ABOUT ITS NOT A TRAVEL. ITS A FUCKN CRAB DRIBBLE YALL NEVER HEARD OF IT B4??? lol jp its clearly a travel. People r goin 2 ridicule him 4 sayin dat 2 his agent iz prolly yelling at him at dis moment.

  4. Bball master says:

this was NOT a travel. it was a hesitation dribble and two steps to the hole. on a fast break a player is allowed to catch and gather the ball while taking a step and THEN take two additional steps to the hole. this is referred to as two and a half steps. this is the same concept. the first “step” was actually the end of his dribble. he is allowed two steps after that. if you can’t do this move then how can you ever step through the defense? how does shaq get to the middle of the lane (or duncan for that matter) to shoot a hook shot?

  5. Tony says:

yeah that wasnt a travel read the rule book, he stopped his dribble and took 2 long steps and exploded on the second step. I don’t know what the heck a crab dribble is but that was clean..dude got shook and Lebron took off before he could react..

THAT, MY FRIENDS, IS A WALK! FINALLY, ONCE IN A LIFETIME, Queen James has a call go against him. I like Buckhantz’s call tho: “It wont make up for [the 1,000 other bullshit calls he got in the playoffs against us], but its nice to see it finally called!” I tell ya, F*CK queen james! In Quicken Loans arena, he could walk from one basket to the other with the ball in his hands and it wouldnt be traveling. And if it took him a minute to do so, well, no worries, they’ll just reset the shot clock for him.

GO WIZARDS! We’ll be back next year!

  7. Roberto says:

Im guessing “Bball master” stands for Baseball because he doesn’t know what a hesitation dribble is, which would make him inept at his “mastery of basketball.” They call it a Hesitation “Dribble” because after you hesitate you continue your dribble. He clearly stops dribbling on his left foot, makes his first non dribbling step with his right, hops to his left foot, then skips back on his right foot. That is three post dribble steps. If you don’t consider that traveling; then you can call it another way, you are not allowed to take two steps after a jump stop (after the “hesitation dribble”) you land on both feet and take off from both. So either way you like it’s a travel. And the rule is actually “If a player has his foot on the floor as he gathers the ball he then gets just ONE more count before having to get rid of the ball.”
