Legend Boats & the WBT

There has been many sponsor and affiliation changes so far this year that will change the appearance of the 2008 BASS season. None so surprising as Triton letting the Elite Series go. In the recent years past, Triton had been related to all things BASS from the Weekend level all the way to the Elite level. Since Triton has let the Elite Series go and decided to put it efforts into the Weekend Series, there has been much speculation that Skeeter is the front runner as replacement. As of right now, that will remain as speculation. A recent announcement released by BASS has told us that Legend Boats will now be the premier boat sponsor for the Women’s Bassmaster Trail (WBT) presented by Academy Sports & Outdoors starting in 2008. The agreement is a multi-year deal.

Why Legend and why the WBT. I’m just doing math hear but Legend is a young boat company and still making efforts to be recognized as one of the premier boating manufacturers along side the likes of Triton, Ranger, Skeeter, and Basscat. What better way to do that than through media publication and representation. As I recently announced, The WBT will now be given a Bassmaster Classic berth starting with the 2009 Classic. I would not be surprised to see Legend go straight after the big guns of the WBT like Sherri Glasgow, Pam Martin-Wells, and Lucy Mize to name a few, in an attempt to have that much more representation at the Classic aside from what Elite Series Pro they sponsor. Just like in Nascar when they say “cautions breed cautions”, well this is the exact opposite. In this case progress is breeding progress for the WBT. In the short few years of the WBT, it hasn’t seen as much progress in its whole existence as it has seen in the past few months. The signing of Legend boats is just one more factor that is going to help bring more money to the WBT and better publicity.
