Legend of Zelda Movie Trailer!…(psyche)
It’s nice when people put effort into their April Fools jokes beyond “lol, rickrolled.” Here’s a pretty fantastic effort at a fan-made Legend of Zelda movie trailer:
I know, Zelda games are pretty distantly removed from Sony. Still, game movies are a pretty universal topic. This trailer is super-excellent to watch if you’re a fan, but how would the Zelda-ignorant react to it if it really did precede some summer blockbuster? Would the audience be intrigued? Apathetic? The Legend of Zelda is classic fantasy based on the Lord of the Rings (and Ridley Scott’s “Legend,” at least in the case of Ocarina of Time). Is there a place for classic fantasy in the theatre? The film adaptation for LOTR remains phenomenally popular, but “Eragon” tanked at the box office shortly thereafter.
Then again, Tolkien’s novels and the Zelda series have the distinct privilege of not sucking, whereas Eragon was doomed to fail because of its awful source material. A worm can only give birth to more worms.
