Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust Facts

One brave man over at Just Adventure, Greg Collins, wrote an article about the up and coming Sierra Entertainment (a.k.a. Vivendi) adventure game, Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust. In this article, Greg did a reconnaissance mission, in which he discovered as many facts out about the new LSL game and what we can all expect, if we so choose to keep playing a game not being created by Al Lowe.

So, in the spirit of keeping things short and sweet, I’m going to bullet point important facts that you may like to know about Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust.

• Once again, Al Lowe will not be partaking in creating Larry Loveage’s new adventure. I probably wouldn’t get near it either, if I were him. Larry Loveage definitely is no Larry Laffer.
• There will be no nudity involved in this game. Why? Because it’s more difficult to sale games if there are naked people in it! Apparently the last Larry game, Magna Cum Laude wasn’t even allow to pass Austrailian border! What’s a LSL game without naked people, I asks you!
• Since Magna Cum Laude was more action than it was adventure, a lot of loyal Larry fans were pissed off. In this go around of LSL, you can expect to see more adventure. That should make some fans happy, at least that’s what Vivendi’s guessing.
• Not only will the game be made for several platforming systems, it will also be made for your mobile phone. I guess we can expect to see some lower quality goods, if that’s the case. Who can play games on tiny little phones anyways?
• Al Lowe is not a fan of the new games. I don’t doubt him! Al told Greg in a recent interview that playing Magna Cum Laude was “… like getting a video from your child’s kidnappers. It’s comforting to know that your kid is still alive, but…” And then Al went on to say this about Box Office Bust: “I’m glad to see that they’re upholding the high standard they established with Magna Cum Laude.” Ohhh, burn!

So, I don’t know what to say. I’m pretty sure that the LSL series is never going to be the games they once were now that Al has been hoisted out of the creator’s spot. Now, you just have a bunch of Business Suits trying to get as much as they can get out of people. I mean, there’s not even going to be NUDITY! What’s a LSL game without nudity? Not much, that’s what.

Hopefully, as the time for release gets closer, we’ll hear better things about the game, but I’m not getting my hopes up.

The new game is supposed to come out sometime in the fall of 2008.
